Arboretum

A few weeks ago, we went searching for signs of fall just east of the valley at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, and this is what we found.

A beautiful cactus in bloom,
A Chinese Pistache showing off it's beautiful berries
And a hummingbird feasting on this purple flower
Not the kind of fall I grew up with in Ohio, but we were surrounded by lots of color!

My Cinnamon Basil is still in bloom and attracts bees.Nika loves to hang out where ever the bees are
She will stand by flowering plants for hours, get a silly look on her face and listen for the buzzing
until she spots one... It is not always a pleasant ending for her, but today she decided not to eat a bee, she just stalked it for a while

American Kestrel

I love this bird. Yesterday was only the second time I have seen one, so I felt lucky that he stayed still long enough for me to photograph him!
